6 But thou, when thou prayest , enter into thy closet, and when thou hast shut thy door, pray to thy Father which is in secret; and thy Father which seeth in secret shall reward thee openly
~Matt. 6.6
God wants us to be quiet. God wants us all to Himself. God wants silence…period.
Are you in it for the chance to spout off? Do you spend the whole time asking for something? Do you make your prayer time a time of noise and me-ism?
Take other cultures for an example. Many people have learned that in order to be heard (by their false gods), they have to be silent. Monks mastered this and to this day, go into any abbey and you will notice the wonderful feeling of shutting out the world and just reveling in the quietness of quietness. I know these people are off by miles when it comes to salvation and the scriptures, but understand, God is the Creator of the universe. He is all powerful. He demands our attention and with that attention He demands our silence. Imagine an all powerful Master of a kingdom demanding your presence NOW! You go before Him and as soon as you are in His presence you start spouting off about all of your needs and wants? Where’s the awe, where’s the respect? Where’s the fear. The world has caught on to the beauty of silence and we just roar by.
Take some time, get away for a half hour to an hour and shut yourself up with God. Be quiet in mind and body and let God be God. Be quiet and let that small still voice speak to your heart.
11 And he said, Go forth, and stand upon the mount before the LORD. And, behold, the LORD passed by, and a great and strong wind rent the mountains, and brake in pieces the rocks before the LORD; but the LORD was not in the wind: and after the wind an earthquake; but the LORD was not in the earthquake:
12 And after the earthquake a fire; but the LORD was not in the fire:
and after the fire a still small voice.
13 And it was so, when Elijah heard it, that he wrapped his face in his mantle, and went out , and stood in the entering in of the cave. And, behold, there came a voice unto him, and said , What doest thou here, Elijah?
Still: whisper, calm
Small: thin, small, fine
Get the point? God’s not in the noise. God’s not in the wind, earthquake or fire. God was in the quiet, the still, the calm.
Be quiet and let that small still voice penetrate your busy life.

Absolutely LOVE this!
Wow that was quick! Thanks, glad you like it. I have learned to spend time with God, being quiet, being still, being submissive to His voice. Sometimes He doesn’t respond, sometimes He does. That’s the point. It’s His time, not mine and I come away refreshed, renewed and feeling incredibly loved.
Must say, there is something about being quiet before God, that, whether or not we hear from Him, you know it was worthwhile.
God bless.
The stillness and quietness of God’s presence. To be in that place where every aspect of your being comes in union with Him…awesome.
